(or all the COOL stuff from that pile of magazines you never have time to read)
As seen in Elle UK. (Writer: Suzanne Scott) from the article:
"Get the Best Hair of Your Life".
THE EXPERTS: Trichologist Philip Kingsley's (PK). Glenn Lyons, director of the Philip Kingsley clinic in Mayfair, London (GL). Legendary hair expert, Frederic Fekkai (FF).
A LIST OF THE TOP TIPS:
(PK) "You need to train your hair and keep it fit so that it is less likely to get 'ill'". It's fine to turn to a professional once hair is already damaged but if you really want better hair you need to exercise it to maintain its own health.
(PK) RE: A healthy scalp: "It's one of the most neglected parts of the body, but you should look after it the same way you do your skin and treat it to regular "facials" to keep it balanced and healthy. If you have a healthy scalp the chances of having healthy hair increase hugely."
"ELLE: Just like the skin on your face, your scalp constantly renews its cells and needs as much moisture and protection as possible. Wash daily (just as you do your skin) and treat weekly with a mask to aid exfoliation.
ELLE: As with skin, if you do one thing for your hair, start using a UV shield & choose a lightweight formulation so you can use it all year round.
(FF): "...Long hair needs to be washed daily so it stays soft and bouncy." 'Treat with products that seal the cuticle and create a smooth hair shaft which reflects light'.
ELLE recommends the following "regime" to see healthier, shinier hair in as little as four months. "To transform hair you need to target new growth..."
*DIET: Snack on complex carbs like almonds and dried fruit throughout the day to keep the energy levels in your follicles up. Also include chicken, fish, lentils, yoghurt and steak to maintain hair-health.
*CUT: (GL) suggests only getting your hair cut when it needs it. If you cut it every 6 weeks - it won't have a chance to grow.
*SCALP: Keep it clean and look for products with Vitamin E and Zinc.
*EXERCISE: "Exercise boosts circulation to the scalp and delivers essential blood, oxygen and nutrients to the follicles."
*SUPPLEMENTS: Natural proteins and biotin - known as Vitamin H or B7 strengthen hair & encourages growth.
*RELAX: "Learn to control stress levels." (GL) "When the body suffers chronic stress it stops directing energy to "non-essential systems". Hair is not only non-essential, it is also one of the fastest growing cells in the body and needs a lot of energy to maintain its health." 'It is one of the first systems to be deprived of energy during times of stress.'
