Hey A-Listers!
I wanted to share our A-List 'Passion Project' with you that we're working on this summer!
We recently had the opportunity to visit 'Roxbury House', a group-home for boys in Boston that is operated by 'The Home for LIttle Wanderers'. (TheHome.org)
THFLW is an amazing organization that cares for neglected and abused children when there is no one in their family who can or will take them. They touch over 7000 lives a year with their positive impact!
Seeing the need for many improvements to the boy's house, we were moved to do whatever we can to help them feel comfortable and secure in the one place they can call home.
Our goal is to help get them ready for their new school year by making their home a place where they want to come back to each day, relax, play, do their homework and stay out of trouble :)
Specifically, we want to get the boys each a personal locker for their belonging so they have piece of mind when they leave for school. Many times the children have to move frequently due to family intervention, foster homes etc and only have what they can carry in their arms. Lockers give them a feeling of security.
We'd also love to get them new sheets, pillows, curtains and even add to their music room. The boys love music, art and cooking! Many times the abuse they have suffered is so severe that they cannot or will not talk about it out loud. The counselors and therapists that live with them use art and music to help them express themselves. Cooking gives them a sense of pride and confidence plus as many of you know… boys love to eat! We also want to help fix up their yard, start a new garden and provide a fresh coat of paint for their common room (and more!).
Well, there you have it. We're going to be working hard over August and September to raise funds and would love if you and your family would consider donating to 'Roxbury House'…These boys need all of our help!
